Asbestos Roof Removal Cost — On the Page, No Guessing

Asbestos roof removal

Licensed removal, Form 65 lodgement where required, and EPA-licensed disposal with dockets.

From $2,500

Prices ex GST. Final price is confirmed with a fixed, itemised quote after a site inspection — roof size, access and sheeting condition all affect the number. No hidden fees, no “call for a price.” Not sure if it’s even asbestos? Get it tested first.

A fibro roof is 100 m² or more — well past the DIY limit, so the 2027 scheme won’t change who removes it. Here’s the detail on roof asbestos and the NSW free disposal trial.

What we remove

Asbestos Roofing We Remove

Licensed Class B removal of bonded (non-friable) asbestos-cement roofing — residential and commercial, across Sydney.

Super six & corrugated cement

The classic profiled asbestos-cement roof sheeting on homes, sheds and commercial buildings.

Flat fibro roofing

Flat asbestos-cement sheeting over verandahs, lean-tos, carports and outbuildings.

Ridge capping & gutters

Asbestos-cement ridge caps, barge boards and moulded guttering removed with the roof.

Garage & shed roofing

Detached garage, shed and awning roofs — a common, contained roof-removal job.

Bonded (non-friable) roofing only. This is Class B work — HazWreck’s licensed specialty (SafeWork NSW Class B Licence AD214755). If a roof is degraded or found to be friable, we stop, advise you, and don’t proceed outside our Class B licence. Not sure what you’ve got? Test it first, or see our full asbestos removal service.

How it works

Roof Removal, Step by Step

1

Assessment & fixed quote

We inspect (on site or from your photos), confirm the roof is bonded, and send a clear, itemised fixed-price quote.

2

Form 65 lodged

Where the job requires it, we lodge the SafeWork NSW Form 65 notification — minimum five calendar days before works start.

3

Containment & removal

We set up controls and remove the sheeting by hand wherever possible — never power-cut dry — to keep fibres contained.

4

Double-wrapped & disposed

All asbestos is double-wrapped, labelled and taken to an EPA-licensed facility, with disposal dockets provided.

5

Clean, clear & clearance

Site left clean and ready for its next stage, with photo documentation and an independent hygienist clearance arranged.

Storm or weather damage?

Old Roof Gone, New Roof Sorted

One Call for the Whole Job — Not Just the Asbestos Part

Getting an asbestos roof removed is only half the job — most people are then left to find and vet a roofing contractor themselves. HazWreck can make that easier. Once your old asbestos roof is safely removed and disposed of, we’ll connect you with trusted, independent roofing contractors so you can get competitive quotes for your replacement — Colorbond, tile, or whatever you’re after. No cold-calling roofers, no starting from scratch.

Roof replacement and installation works are carried out by independent licensed roofing contractors — not part of HazWreck’s asbestos removal scope.

Good questions

Asbestos Roof Removal Sydney — Frequently Asked Questions

How much does asbestos roof removal cost in Sydney?

From $2,500, including licensed removal, Form 65 notification where required, and disposal to an EPA-licensed facility with dockets. Final price is confirmed with a fixed, itemised quote after a site inspection — roof size, access and sheeting condition all affect the price.

What type of asbestos roofing do you remove?

Bonded (non-friable) cement sheeting — super six, corrugated roofing, ridge capping and flat fibro sheeting on homes, garages and sheds. This is Class B work, HazWreck’s licensed specialty. If a roof is degraded or found to be friable, we stop, advise you, and don’t proceed outside our Class B licence.

Do you replace the roof after removing the asbestos?

HazWreck is licensed for asbestos removal and demolition, not roofing installation. Once your old roof is safely removed, we’ll connect you with trusted, independent roofing contractors so you can get competitive quotes for the replacement — one point of contact to get the whole job moving, without us stepping outside our licence.

Do I need council approval to remove an asbestos roof?

Licensed removal itself doesn’t generally need council approval, but a Form 65 notification is lodged with SafeWork NSW where the job requires it (minimum five calendar days’ notice). If your project also involves a rebuild or renovation, check with your builder or council on separate approvals for that work.

Is it safe to leave an asbestos roof in place?

A bonded asbestos roof in good, undisturbed condition is generally low-risk. The danger starts when it’s damaged, cracked, drilled or disturbed — including by storm damage or age — which is when fibres can become airborne. If your roof is deteriorating or storm-damaged, don’t disturb it further; get it assessed.

How long does asbestos roof removal take?

Most residential roofs are removed within a day once containment is set up, though timing depends on roof size and access. Form 65 notification (where required) needs a minimum five calendar days’ notice before works can start, so factor that into your timeline.
